GEOFFREY BALDWIN
Geoffrey serves as a Senior Director in the Dispute Resolution Group. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of post-closing disputes, including indemnification claims and earnout disputes. Geoffrey uses his litigation background and extensive knowledge of M&A disputes to focus on providing Fortis Advisors’ clients with a practical, strategic, and candid perspective when disagreements with buyers arise.
Prior to joining Fortis, Geoffrey ran a boutique litigation firm, where he represented clients in disputes across multiple areas of law, including post-closing M&A, complex commercial litigation, and intellectual property. Geoffrey had previously been an associate at Covington & Burling and Heller Ehrman, where he assisted with litigation and arbitration between global technology firms. Geoffrey began his legal career as a judicial clerk to the Honorable David R. Thompson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Geoffrey went to law school and college at the University of Texas at Austin. In law school, Geoffrey was a member of the Texas Law Review, and graduated with honors in the top 10% of his class. As an undergraduate, Geoffrey received a B.S. in Physics (graduating magna cum laude), a B.A. from the Plan II Liberal Arts Honors Program (graduating summa cum laude) and also served as captain of the UT men’s water polo team.
